Job Opportunity | Applications Support Engineer –Graveyard Shift

Responsibilities

  • Handle first-tier support for technical and developer questions from our customer base. These range from application support and end-user questions to problems accessing our customer-facing systems.
  • Deliver first-tier support and diagnosis of problems with our Web-based enterprise application and various vertical applications.
  • Diagnose problems with applications running on our core servers.
  • Monitor applications and servers using SiteScope, Zenoss and other similar utilities and respond to any alerts from the system.
  • Perform simple network traces and troubleshooting.
  • Participate in the creation of Knowledge Base articles for both internal customers and end-users.
  • Participate in the development and testing of internal tools, scripts and other coding projects.
  • Work with application developers and our QA team to isolate customer issues.
  • This position is for a 24/7 staffed operations center and involves late night, early morning, and week-end shifts.

Requirements

  • End-to-end experience in the support of Web-based applications.
  • Familiarity with structure of modern enterprise Web applications: the user interface, application server, and database.
  • Significant application support background. You’ve participated in the testing or support of web based solutions or other enterprise software.
  • Networking troubleshooting skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently.
  • Customer-first attitude and strong written and verbal communication skills, with a keen analytical and structured approach to problem solving.
  • Solid knowledge of Java, .NET, JavaScript, Flash, HTML, XML or similar languages and technologies desired.
  • Experience with any of the following a plus: e-commerce applications, streaming media, J2EE Application servers, SQL Server or Oracle, Web Services, Microsoft .NET development.
  • Experience with video encoding and media formats a plus.
  • Advanced level knowledge of Windows based OS and/or Linux OS required.
  • BS/BA in a related field or equivalent experience is required.
