Job Opportunity | Database Administrator- MySQL-Linux/Unix
thePlatform, is hiring an experienced Database Administrator for our Network Operations team.
thePlatform helps content providers, broadband media sites, and mobile businesses solve their unique media publishing requirements. Our Network Operations team uses the latest technologies to support our high-availability, high-traffic Internet applications with greater than 99.9% uptime. Our applications power high-profile destinations for customers such as CNBC, PBS, Travel Channel, Comcast and many others who demand strict uptime and security standards.

Responsibilities
- Design, tune, maintain and support database systems for highly available, high-volume Internet applications
- Assist the development teams with application schema design and applying best practices
- Respond quickly to critical support issues
- Communicate regularly with development and support teams regarding database status and changes
- Work with development teams to evaluate new database technologies and features
- Work with the network and security teams to ensure database adherence to security standards
- Ensure that customer SLAs are met at all times
- Maintain and improve disaster recovery plans
Requirements
- 5 years experience as a database administrator for high availability Internet sites
- 3 years MySQL experience
- 3 years Linux / UNIX experience
- 2 years replication and/or clustering experience
- Expert troubleshooting skills
- Ability to analyze and tune databases for performance and efficiency
- Scripting experience in Perl, Python or Shell
- Experience in backup, restore and disaster recovery procedures
- Ability to work closely with development team
Additional Experience (preferred)
- Oracle 10/11G RAC
- Microsoft SQL Server
