MyOutdoorTV doubles traffic with eagle cam
Who loves watching live video of baby eagles? Just about everyone, judging from the jump in traffic on MyOutdoorTV’s site since they began hosting a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s eagle cam.
MyOutdoorTV was already hosting a USFWS video microsite, and the topic of USFWS’ eagle cam came up in conversation earlier this year between USFWS and Chris Moise, MyOutdoorTV CEO. They told Chris about their cam that provided stills of a bald eagle nest is on the Potomac River on the campus of The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service National Conservation Training Center in Shepherdstown, West Virginia. The cam wasn’t live, however: the picture was refreshed every 30 seconds, and the USFWS site wasn’t handling the traffic efficiently.
Chris saw a great opportunity to provide the MyOutdoorTV audience with fascinating live nature video. He offered to host a video player of the cam on the MyOutdoorTV site, and in March it went live in a PDK player with audio. Since then, he saw his site traffic double. Check out the eaglet in his nest on the live eagle cam.
