PDK 4.0.2 is Now Available
The improvements just keep coming in our Player Development Kit 4 (PDK 4). PDK 4.0.2 offers improved support for dynamic visual elements that give the player developer the option to create a “smart player” that can changes its design elements on-the-fly in response to changes in the metadata or at run time. In addition, the new version of the PDK has support for even more plug-ins, including two for DoubleClick InStream, and supports more closed-captioning standards.
Further improvements include:
- Updated FMS support. PDK 4 now offers full support for FMS 3.5 adaptive streaming. You can now set up media with two or more different bitrates and release them all to the same FMS 3.5 server. For Flash Player 10 users, we will automatically adjust the bandwidth up and down to suit the user’s bandwidth.
- Improved dynamic ad support. You can dynamically apply advertisements based on the metadata of the main content.
- More icon flexibility. Automatically scale your player icon images (or switch to different sizes dynamically) as users change the size of the players.
- More run-time control. Set a background or message text in the player dynamically at run time.
- New plug-ins. Use our new plug-ins for DoubleClick InStream and MSN Ads.
- Better closed-captioning. You can now use the distribution format exchange profile (DFXP) format for closed-captions.
Our continuous efforts to refine, improve, and adapt the Player Development Kit to a changing market is an essential element of thePlatform’s success, and we get more excited about our continued progress on PDK 4 every day.
