mps Update Supports Adobe's H.264 Release

Adobe Systems recently announced Adobe Flash Player 9 Update 3 software, which, combined with Adobe Flash Media Server 3, delivers HD-quality online video. The Flash Player will now support the H.264 video compression standard used in MPEG-4 formats, which offers higher quality at smaller sizes than the current .flv format. It also supports Efficiency AAC (HE-AAC), an efficient audio compression scheme.

To help our customers take advantage of Adobe's release, we've incorporated support for these updates into our media publishing system (mps). You can now deliver H.264 compressed files (.mp4, .aac, .3gpp, .3gpp2, and .aac) in synchronized multimedia integration language (SMIL) files, which are easily dropped into players you create with our mpsPresent Player Development Kit. You just have to add &format=SMIL to the release URL. We've also updated our system to get bitrate, height, width, and duration data from .flv MPEG-4 files.

As these Flash updates have been in big demand by content outlets, we were eager to incorporate support into mps as soon as possible. As always, support for these technology updates are available to you immediately when you log in to our system.
