Why I like thePlatform

MaryBeth Kardos is our Recruiting Manager.

Okay, so you're smart and talented and loyal and have an incredible work ethic. You've got a great personality and actually like interacting with other humans. You could work anywhere, right?

Consider thePlatform. Why? It's simple. If you're like us, you want the same thing out of work life that we do--to work with a crowd of fun-loving, over-achieving geniuses developing cool, cutting-edge technology because life's too short to waste your talent on something mediocre.

I won't do a comparison between where you've worked before and thePlatform - every place is unique. But here's a little bit about why thePlatform is so great, in my humble opinion.

We have smart managers: people who have come up the ranks and are hands-on. They live technology. We practice Agile methodology using scrum which combines rapid, test-driven development, collaboration, and a dearth of boredom. Projects change quickly and there's always something new to learn or do. Our teammates are driven, high-performing, and creative. We can see the fruits of our labor every day. And we're modest to boot.

This isn't an ego-based environment; people don't point fingers and scream if we find ourselves challenged. We support each other. Challenges actually make us band together and work harder. We're proud of our work and take care of our customers; we won't deploy anything we aren't dang near 100% sure about. Our executive team is made up of smart business people (as they should be), but more than that, they care about their company and its employees like we were family (which we are in a way). We have a great parent company and never have to worry about where our next pencil or paycheck is coming from. We have security now and in the future.

We have fun. We take lunches. We bike to work. We go for runs in the afternoon. We work out. We have the requisite free soft drinks and Red Vines. We start work at a decent time and leave at a reasonable hour. And we have well-planned and valuable company events which are all about cutting loose and celebrating successes.

Is it Utopia? Well, it's human-run and therefore not perfect. Like a family, there's always something a little wacky, but it makes us stronger and tighter.

Is this the next great place for you? That's for you to decide, but I will say this: once you walk through our front door, meet the people who work here and learn more about what we do, you'll get why I like it here and why my fellow teammates feel the same. I hope you'll take a look at our Careers page and see if there's something for you.
